Chief Investigator – Southern Ohio
Stephen D. Kane was born in Licking County, Ohio and his family moved to Athens, Ohio in 1954. He learned the importance of hard work being from a large family. His father left the Ohio State Patrol and went to work at Ohio University Police Department and benefited from employee’s scholarships and graduated from the School of Science with a Law Enforcement Degree.
Stephen was deputized with the Athens County Mounted Posse in 1973. Stephen worked as a Deputy Clerk of Athens Municipal Court while attending Ohio University. In 1975 he was sworn in as a City of Athens Police Officer.
Stephen accepted his appointment to Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigations in October 1977 to the position of Special Agent, London, Ohio. He was assigned to Investigations Unit and worked through out the State of Ohio in many criminal investigations. He became a field Supervisor in 1984 and was promoted to District Supervisor in 1986 for Central District and then later included Southeast Ohio. He supervised Crime Scene Special Agents, Canine Units, and Narcotic Special Agents. Stephen Kane worked with the United States Attorney’s Office & United States Drug Enforcement Agency in supervising multi-agency drug task force operations on several occasions.
Ms. Hooper has 28 years of federal government work experience. She was an Operations Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency for 20 years and only recently retired. During her CIA career, Ms. Hooper worked on U.S. intelligence issues both domestically and abroad, and served in both analytical and operational positions. She has experience in surveillance operations and has strong interview and assessment skills. She speaks fluent German.
Prior to joining the CIA, Ms. Hooper served for seven years as a U.S. Navy Surface Warfare Officer. A native of Columbus, she attended St. Joseph’s Academy for high school and Miami University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Zoology. Ms. Hooper later obtained a Master of Arts (MA) in National Defense Studies from Georgetown University in Washington D.C.
